Being Flexible Without Settling
Many of you might have seen my post from last week where I shared some of the adventures from my holiday trip with Dana. That trip reminded me of a very important quality we need to possess to be happy and peaceful in all areas of our life:
While Dana and I had our plans, the weather and the government shut down shifted what we expected to experience. It wasn’t bad; in fact, the shift created some meaningful memories. In the past, I was forced to be flexible, and I didn’t always go along with “The Plan,” when it didn’t match my own. My illness and subsequent recovery is one example. If I hadn’t surrendered to a greater wisdom than my own logic, I might have driven myself into the ground and not be writing this post––or anything for that matter.
Beyond My Wildest Dreams!
Because I surrendered to a different plan, my life is now on a trajectory that is more rewarding than I ever dreamed possible––and I am ever so grateful.
John Maxwell once said, “Failed plans should not be interpreted as a failed vision. Visions don’t change, they are only refined. Plans rarely stay the same, and are scrapped or adjusted as needed. Be stubborn about the vision, but flexible with your plan.”
The vision that Dana and I had for our vacation never changed. We wanted to relax, enjoy each other’s company, visit with friends, and explore in nature. The way that happened wasn’t exactly the way we envisioned it. The “how” was different than our “plan.” And that’s okay.
Creating a Flexible Plan for 2019
In the coming weeks, I’m going to be exploring with you different topics to help you create a year full of possibilities for more love, more joy, more peace, and more prosperity. We will uncover:
- whether or not you are in alignment with your values
- determining your preferences
- creating a plan to live a happier, healthier, more passionate and free life,
- and much more…
And I’d like your help in determining the trajectory of my blogs. Journey on over to my Facebook page and answer these questions:
- Do you feel like you are living your life in alignment with who you really are?
- If so, let me know what’s working for you.
- If not, where do you feel out of alignment?
I’ll jump into the conversation and provide some responses, and share some of my insights.
Here’s to a fantastic new year!
