Summer Fun – What Are Your Plans?
June is here and many of us are turning our thoughts to summer travels, leisurely evenings strolling on the beach, and BBQs with family and friends.
After about a year of working really hard at reaching the goal of having my book, Jungle: A Journey to Peace, Purpose, and Freedom written, published, and launched, I told my team that it’s time for us to settle into a lighter schedule and get our feet underneath us before our fall promotion of my speaking around the themes I wrote about in Jungle.
Dana and I are planning our summer travels, which includes a trip with our friends, Anita Sanchez and Kit Tennis, who are group leaders for the Pachamama Alliance trip to Ecuador. One of my team members has her eyes set on some hiking and fly fishing after she completes her move to Colorado in just a few weeks. And another team member wants to enjoy the first summer in her new home in Arizona.
What I’ve discovered over the years is that when we take the time to recharge our batteries, we actually gain momentum to move toward our goals. When we’re lacking energy and slugging along at our to-do lists, passion often subsides and all joy leaves our work––and even our off times. Life is just too short to not feel the spark of enthusiasm in all that we do.
Here’s what I wrote about having fun in Jungle:
Principle #1. Tap into Your Fun Quotient! When we set our intentions on having fun, even the most difficult situations and tasks can be much more enjoyable. When one person is determined to have fun, others often join in. So, smile, laugh, and have a good time––wherever life takes you. Life, and especially work, can be joyful and adventurous––and more rewarding in a joyful environment.
Think about the next few weeks of summer. What can you do to have some fun and recharge your batteries? Let me know what you come up with.
